Bird tags

I made seven tags for a bird themed swap I joined recently. I made my tags to look like actual bird houses. I think they turned out pretty cute. This is the very first time I have ever been successful using a crackle medium. I had to resort to actually reading the instructions--- and *gasp* following them. What'da know.... it worked. Here is what the backsides of my tags looked like. I also made a bird themed box that I mailed the tags in. I enlarged and printed a copy of a vintage postcard which I then cut out with scalloped scissors. Glitter, crepe paper, flowers, sheet music...
vintage silver doilies and more vintage images adorn the inside....Lastly, I added shredded sheet music and its ready to be mailed. That was fun~

  2. Love your tags! I had actually thought about trying to make a birdhouse-shaped tag too, but didn't after all. The box is beautiful - saw a glimpse of it on Karla's post, so now we now who made it :)

  10. Those tags are beautiful, Cheryl! They look dimensional in the pictures. Great box, too! I hate when I have to read directions {because that means I have to find my reading glasses}, but I have to agree that sometimes things actually come out the way I want them to.

  13. Oh how I adore those bird tags! I use to teach tole painting, and alot of students had a bit of trouble with crackle. They never dared use as much paint as I would tell them to. I have had a bit of a bird fettish for the last 3 years. I threw a bridal shower today and it was all bird themed. Darn, wish I would have known about that exchange. Would've loved to have participated in it. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  14. Cheryl, your birdhouses are amazing, they look so real.. I mentioned meeting you in my blog.. hope that was ok..
I am also amazed at your "studio", wish mine looked as organized.. I have run out of wall space, so most is getting just dropped in to bins.. that does not work!
You are amazing with your creativity.. Enjoy your day. Oh.. Did you know that is a store in Carson City, named Artsy Fartsy?

  16. I saw your tags on Karla's blog, they are so nice, very creative. I have tried using the crackle and it doesn't work for me. Even if I read the directions. Would you be willing to share what product you use? But I did get to your blog and like it very much. Lots of pictures for inspiration and how tos.
