Changes...
not doing much of anything lately--- but I'm feeling like I want to change everything in site! Soooooooo I've started small.... I've made a new kitchen table cloth (excuse the clear plastic on top, I've got 4 indoor cats that think they own the joint) Also, matching chair covers. I LOVE this fabric, yards & yards of it for only 9 buckeroos! Super easy to make.... and it gives the place a whole new look :-)
I think I'll now go start to work on my Christmas cards~
All Clear~
I had my diagnostic mammogram done yesterday... I am happy to say it was all clear! The doctor reported that he didn't get a good enough lookie-lou of my left breast, there was an area he wanted to see a closer view of....so they took 3 more "views" The first one was easy-peasy.... bring it on sis'ta! The second x-ray, I SWEAR she squeezed my lung on that one! The third, now I'm not joking--- I SWEAR she was squeezing my heart on that one!!! (Today I am bruised but happy lol) The doctor viewed them right on the spot-- nothing like thinking your going to be given bad news to make one feel sick to their stomach now is there.... then the tech came in and said...."All clear".....What? Whats that? really? Whew. Lesson to be learned in all of this??? Do not skip your yearly mammograms girls, I skipped 3 years!! Gasp... I am such a dope! I could have killed myself! geeze, now I need some ice cream to make myself feel better LOL

Pity Party~
Sooooo while I'm throwing myself a pity party due to the fact I got a notice from my doctor that my mammogram showed "findings that need further evaluation" (next appointment Tuesday-- gulp) I thought OMG, whats a party without cookies? No party I'd ever attend I'll tell you that! LOL
So, I made two different kinds of cookies with recipes I found while surfing blogs~ Who knows which blogs I've taken them from... I am sooooooo like that! Anywho, here are the recipes if you'd like them :-)
This was the BEST pumpkin cookie recipe out of the two. (I didn't like the glaze so I only put it on some cookies) They tasted like little bites of pumpkin pie-- yUmMy!! I am not a big fan of "drop cookies"....I like things uniform-- even my cookies, but hey, these are sooooooooo good, I'll eat them even if they look like little blobs :-) I tried flattening them out with a glass dipped in sugar... they didn't taste as good! Anywho-- here are the recipes!
Pumpkin Cookies with Cinnamon Glaze
1 c. pumpkin
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 1/4 c. flour
Preheat oven to 350. Mix wet ingredients together until well blended. In a separate bowl combine the baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour and then add to the wet ingredients. With a small ice cream scoop, drop onto cookie sheet and bake for 13-14 minutes.
For the Cinnamon Glaze, use about 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar, 1 Tbs. softened butter, and milk until it has a nice smooth consistency. After it is thoroughly combined I stir in a pinch or two of cinnamon. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and Enjoy!
This recipe below was just as easy to make as the first, but it comes in at second place in my book. The first one is THAT good!
Pumpkin-chip cookies~
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 cup pumpkin
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg until well blended. In a large mixing bowl, beat the sugar and butter until well blended. Beat in the pumpkin, egg, and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture. Once all ingredients are well-mixed, add the chocolate chips.Place spoonfuls on greased baking sheets. Bake approximately 12 minutes or until edges are firm. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for several minutes and then place on a wire rack and cool completely. Recipe makes approximately 3 dozen cookies

Daisy Loom blanket~
I finished up the little daisy loom baby blanket for one of my daughters girlfriends who is expecting a baby girl.... this one is for little Emily~ Her momma wanted everything to be brown & pink--- so I hope she loves this :-)I really like using this pattern, its one that I can work on mindlessly as I watch t.v. :-P The little daisy loom flowers are fun to make but not so fun to attach to the blanket lol

October~
October is not only a month with the scarey event of Halloween...but it is also Breast cancer awareness month. Coincidence? I don't think so! Yesterday I had my yearly mammogram-- this morning I get a phone call from the imaging center telling me they want some more x-rays.... Gulp.... spooky stuff!

Mixed Media Monday~
This week's theme is: Things that go bump in the night....
You can see more here :-)
I've made these little treat cups-- when I completed them they didn't have witches in front of them... The little stinkers "hide" there to fool everyone!they just stand in front of them as if to appear to be part of the "design"...Just look at the "who me?" look on that little witch! Those random noises you hear are probably those little stinkers up to no good!
Of course, anything in my house that goes "bump in the night" is most likely the result of one of my cats running amuck~ Even a crocheted kitty gets into mischief in my house!!You can see more here :-)

Here are a couple more things I recently purchased from one of our local boutiques. (thrift store)
A huge bag of antique stamps which includes the alphabet (upper & lower case) shapes, common objects and lots and lots of "words" I think it was a set used by a teacher. (The rubber on the stamps smells like a car tire lol) The huge bag was only $10 buckeroos~
Here is a sweet wall angel. This one surprised me because it is made out of wood :-) It cost me all of .45cents~

Hmmmmm....
I was thinking.....Why is it that I don't seem to get anything accomplished? Answer: I shop to much! Now, you would think that wouldn't be a "problem" and its not...it is the time it takes to find a place to put everything that is the problem!!! Here is some of my recent finds:
A container of buttons-- .10cents3 large bags of lavendar--.25centsall of this for $1 dollarSilver glittered stars-- .10cents eachThis baby doll-- $1 dollar This huge lot of yarn--$2 bucks. (works out to .6cents per skein)This is just the stuff I'm sharing.... I've got tons more already put away! I shop sooooooooo much, that I don't buy everything that I see-- man-oh-man you'd be shocked at the stuff I pass up lol

Goofing around~
Just not feeling like doing much of anything lately.... I think its the change in the weather..yes, thats it, thats the excuse I'm going to use :-) I did make a "tag" of sorts to put on a baby shower gift that my daughter is giving to one of her girlfriends. She got her a huge rug...so I made a "tag/swag" to put on the wrapped rug with the new babies name on it "Emily"...I used the new glitter from Martha Stewart--- I must say, it was super fine stuff and I'm glad I purchased it. I also was goofing around with some pipe cleaners...I like the "vintage" look that this piece ended up having.
Nothing "fabulous" just poking along....

Show & Tell~
For this show and tell I'm sharing what I entered in our local fair...I had a fun time hunting for the 8 things I made to see if I won any ribbons. Happily I can report I did win some ribbons!! Out of the 8 things I entered, I won 6 ribbons! Two first place: this set of 3 crocheted Christmas ornaments:This set of 6 3d soldered Christmas ornaments not only won a first prize ribbon but also BEST IN SHOW!!Here is a better picture of them: two second place: a crocheted teddy bear...
A fabric covered box (dumb division, but I always get a ribbon in it lol)
and two third place ribbons: a pair of crocheted baby booties...
and an appliqued quilt(Mine is the Yo Gabba-Gabba baby blanket-- the one with the blue faced character on it~)
Two didn't win a thing. This crocheted baby blanket
and this mixed media necklace....big pout. I surely thought the bably blanket would win, but noooooooooooo not this year!! Still going to try next year though!!

Arrrrrrgh a pirate album...
Well, I finished the pirate photo album...I think it turned out rather nicely :-) This album is going to hold only one photo per year from my grandson's yearly pirate party. I think it will be a wonderful keepsake to see the changes in him from year to year :-)I covered the book itself with faux leather fabric as the base to build upon. I then used some velvet with a stamped pattern to give it an old world feel (I think it is vintage velvet fabric, but I'm not sure) I then attached a wire & bead belt from India that I cut down and wrapped around the front & back of the album which closes with velcro--- (I know, its suppossed to be "old world" but hey, those stupid little snaps where not so easy to sew on so I opted to use velcro :-P) Then.... I created a small banner with my grandson's name on it sewn in gold metallic thread and glued some rhinestones on each letter. Then I stitched it all together and taaaaaaaaaaaa-daaaaaaaaaaaaa instant cute photo album!!! I also painted a small treasure chest that once was painted black with the word "Raiders" on it.... gasp-- now its how it should be.... all piratey! It holds some coins from other countries :-)
