The Cottage Market is hosting a "Great Outdoors Linky Party" and since I've been spending all my free time in my back yard, I thought I MUST join in on the fun.
My backyard is not your typical backyard. Sure, we have a pool, gazebos and the like.... but we also have a pirate ship, a pirate store and a pirate tattoo parlor. This year, our pirate ship got a roof added to the cabin.... last years sails were spruced up with some skull and crossbones. Red and white bunting was added for a festive flair, along with red and white fishing nets. The "Lick and Stick Tattoo Parlor" is having its grand opening on June the 9th. Peer beyond the pirate ship under the burlap awning... Here it is....It is in the early stages of construction, here is the table where all the tattoos will be given.....On the counter there is a small fairy garden... where Tink and her friends are playing with some little snail friends... be sure to check it out when you come to the grand opening!Of course, "Chloe's Unique Pirate Boutique" has been open for a few weeks now. Little Miss Chloe has been busy bagging and unbagging merchandise as she sees fit. Nothing is for sale, thats what makes this boutique unique. This is just the beginning of pirate season, there are large pirate steamer trunks full of silver and treasures to be unpacked and placed here and there... and there.... and there......... arrgggghhhh!... a work in progress to be sure!

Sailing
I had a very fun Memorial day weekend, I spent it sailing of course. There was another mile long block sale this past weekend, and in the next town over an outdoor Peddlers market. I picked up some really beautiful pieces of jewelry... super-super cheap.Loving the pink abalone shell necklace and matching earrings...Some fun vintage pieces....Loads of earrings....A HUGE box of jewelry for $5... after going through it and picking out what I wanted to keep.... The rest will be used to fill up bottles for some pirate loot.I also picked up this five pound box of water slide decals. yes, I weighed it. About four pounds of it will be for sale in my etsy store at the end of June. The gal I bought them from told me that they were very old stickers... and "They don't stick anymore, so you'll have to cut them out and glue them like I did." *I didn't even laugh*.... but I did talk her down from $5 to $3 since they didn't stick anymore. I also managed to find some silver plated spoons. Most vendors ask a dollar a piece for spoons, I talked a vendor down to selling them to me for .30¢ each-- score! no... it wasn't the water slide decal/sticker dummy either. All in all a very good weekend.

Lucky number 5
This past weekend I found this fabulous cement planter at a yard sale for $5. I added a $5 plant and a $5 bag of dirt and a little bit of white paint to my newly acquired treasure. Lovin' it!These two hanging lamps I picked up last summer at a yard sale were $5 for the pair. I finally got around to changing them from contemporary...... to something more appealing to a pirate. Aarrrgggghhhh~Lastly, I finished making some pirate invitations for my grandsons entire pre-k class.... I think they turned out super cute this year...I've got 5 more that are needing to have the finishing touches put on them before being passed out..... or before I pass out, which ever comes first.

New Store Grand Opening
Pirate store that is.... The long awaited and anticipated "Chloe's Unique Pirate Boutique" is now open! Here it is in all its splendor... Watch your head as you enter as you'll get a playful whack on your noggin from the pirate kitty "Pee-Wee."The shelves are somewhat bare at the moment.... There is some looting... and pilfering... that will need to be done... before the store is completely stocked...For now we have some fairies in cages, cars, various pieces of jewelry and the like.... Feel free to look around...There are chairs and a table next to the cash register... for those who bring there peg leg husbands. They can sit and rest while us pirate girls go shopping...There is a counter built into the store front which holds some odds and ends...Next year this will be the site of "Chloe's Hot Dog Cantina"... her Nana contractor is pooped presently, so thats been put off until next year. The fabric awning adds just the right touch to this pirate store.... Close by to Chloe's pirate store is a very popular fishing hole, soon to be fully stocked with fish...Some plants in pots and buckets along with a tee kee torch for added pirate ambiance...I used the bird bath I picked up a few weeks ago to hold some sea shells. I placed burlap over some brick I placed in the center of the bird bath so I wouldn't have to use that many shells. I'll fill this up completely when I come across my other shells. This pirate store was built on the sloped part of the RV pad we have in our backyard.... it was totally unusable space... until now. Bring on the shopping! Stay tuned for the up and coming grand opening of the "Lick and Stick Tattoo Parlor!"
