Say my name...
Coming up with a pirate name isn't as easy as one might think ...soooooo... I decided to create a pirate name generator. I had seen something similar to what I wanted to make about a year ago--- thought the idea was neat, and stored that idea in my head. Thank goodness for Pinterest, it makes life so much easier! The name generator I made has three spinning wheels that when finally stopped --lands on your pirate name.
I built a base that I covered with tissue paper to give the whole thing a textured old world look. I glued the round circles with the names directly to the base so it doesn't move. The smaller circle has a handle that you can grab and spin.... spin... and spin.
There you have it.. a first, middle & last pirate name.
Of course when the arrow falls on a line... that soooooooooo calls for a "do over."

A few treasures
This past weekend I found a few treasures that I'm just now getting around to sharing.... this fabulous Fenton milk glass hobnail cake stand... one buckeroo~
This rather large Fenton milk glass hobnail basket for... another buckeroo~
I also managed to pick up all this jewelry... no, not for one buckeroo...
7 buckeroos and it was all mine.

Blueberries
I had to transplant my blueberries from one location to another.... I chose to plant it next to my grand daughters play house. Happily it is thriving in the new spot.
I have been tying the vines around and around the tall round trellis I planted the blueberry plant in the middle of....
Having the vines tied parallel to the ground seems to make them send up more branches, that was a neat discovery. Mr. Bunny approves of the upcoming crop....
and so do I :-)

Yo Ho... Yum-Yum...
Pirate cupcakes for everyone! I made some cupcakes for my grandson's preschool class. I made them super sweet!!! Personally, I like LOVE super sweet gooey sweets... doesn't everyone?
I purchased a box of white cake mix and added a can of diet 7UP to the batter (any soda will do, but 7up keeps the cake white). The combination of the two makes an over the top, super sweet cake. To.Die.For.
Here is a close up of the super easy-peasy pirate cupcakes I made~ I added blue food coloring to a container of ready made frosting. Once the cupcakes were frosted, I added a chocolate doughnut "ship" with a Teddy Gram "Captain" standing under a ships sail with a pirate flag of course. Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrdorable!
With the added pirate ship and flag, they didn't quite fit under the tiered cupcake stand as I had planned...so when I make these again, I think I'll cut the doughnuts in half so they are not so tall. That way I can make a bazillion of them and have the tiered cupcake stand stuffed to the gills with sweet-gooey yumminess.
I also made a bunch of "save the date" little pirate ships to be passed out since his birthday party won't be held until next month on the 9th.
I found the printable pirate ship while perusing the internet for pirate stuff. I modified it by using a Dum-Dum sucker as the ships mast instead of a straw, and of course, I added the save the date information.

Cupcake Stand
I've been mulling over making a cupcake stand for a few years now..... I finally decided to make one. I initially planned on making one out of wood, but I spied this silver plated four bowl tiered stand in my studio....
I pulled it all apart and used the bowls as a pattern to draw circles onto the MDF board that was needed to hold the cupcakes on the different layers. Here it is in all its glory~
I cut circles out of foam sheets and hot glue them to help hide the circles needed to thread the center piece through the stand, this also helps to keep the circle exactly centered to the edges of each bowl. I love it... I must make some cupcakes to try it out!

First Place Find
I found this silver plated trophy for $1.25... I don't think the lid goes with it-- but its staying with the trophy. It looks very old like it was won in 1900--- but no, it was won in 1995.
This little puppy in a pink basket was $2.00. When you wind it up, it turns in the basket...
all the while barking...
Then it quickly spins back into the basket. Its super cute.
I once had this very same toy only instead of a puppy it was a kitten.
Now, I'm on the hunt for the kitten in a basket.
