Halloween photo album

I've made a halloween photo album using some old family photos from my husbands side of the family. My little grandson likes halloween stuff...he growls like a lion whenever he sees something that he thinks is spooky. He is so silly~ So I thought what better than to use family photos to make a little picture book for the two of us to enjoy together. I printed some photos onto cardstock paper using only black ink, no sepia tones. I then colored the clothing, hair, cheeks and lips on the people in each photo using chalk and colored pencils, leaving the rest black and white. Once everything was colored, I cut each photo out, then I backed each with a frame of white cardstock. I had bought a huge bag of silver photo corners at a yard sale for $1... I added one to each corner and then just glued the corners into this old photo book that I got at a thrift store for .25cents. I added stickers to the photos as well. Witches hats, spiders, trees and crows .... I'll pick up some more halloween related stickers to have on hand as I add more pages to this book. Taaaaaaaaa daaaaaaaaa! A fun way to enjoy old family photos with my grandkids. For some unexplained reason, blogspot kept turning this photo (pictured below) So, I've just posted it that way-- I've only completed two full pages...it is a work in progress~

Kanzashi flowers

Here are some Kanzashi flowers that I made tonight to put onto a Halloween bag I'm making. I've made these kanzashi flowers using black netting. Not the easiest material to work with... the petals didn't end up looking like a traditional kanzashi flower-- but I love them just the same. Wouldn't these be fabulous on a woven handbag or beach hat??? You could even put them on sandals! The photo is dark -- sowwy-- for the life of me, I couldn't get them to photograph well this late at night. Anywho, the center is a rolled up piece of netting that I knotted and fed through the opening of the petals.~Here is a photo of a kanzashi flower that I made for my grandaughter Chloe. You can read more about that post here. I used some vintage dotted swiss fabric. I used a blingie button for the center of this one.

Witch cabinet

Here is the witches cabinet that I made... I finally got around to taking photos of it-- I'm feeling so lazy lately! Change of weather ya' know! Here is another shot of it. I placed in the cabinet: doves feathers tied together, old glass jars filled with stuff, a tiny witch caught in a jar... some black widow spiders, cob webs, moss, envelopes filled with things, rusty keys hanging from old twine...and a small black bird sitting on some curly wood that I nailed on top of the cabinet.I'll add more things to it whenever the mood strikes me, (more like when I find things for it!)

Keeping busy~

I picked up this lacing toy for my 2 1/2 year old grandson recently and personalized it for him..... He is over the moon for cars, so I used some Disney Car stickers as the centerpiece of each lacing shape. I just painted on a clear finish over the top to keep each sticker from being easily picked off--another one of his favorite things to do. He is so helpful~
