Tip Junkie~

I submitted my Faux leather tutorial to the "Tip Junkie" and was one of the featured bloggers on the site. Neat~

Grands~

How funny is this photo? My grandson pulls out these two bumbo seats daily and insists his Mommy put his sister Chloe in one as he sits in the other one. Now....Chloe will be two months old on the 13th and can barely hold her head up but that doesn't stop the two of them lol Now...he just has to teach Chloe to smile-- and SMILE BIG like he does lol

Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday~

And also..........................
Here is a little bowed front cabinet that I picked up for $12.... I paid about $10 more than I wanted to, but thats how it goes sometimes! When I bought it it was stained very dark. Of course the minute I've gotten it painted I realized I should have taken a before photo! Anywho--- I lightened it up by painting it pink!
I then added some paper to the inside/back of the cabinet. The paper I used was some scented dresser drawer paper that I picked up from a thrift store (brand new in the box) for $2. I used an antique wash (glue/sealer) over the top of the paper to yellow it up a bit and to seal the paper.I added some lace around the edge of the two shelves...On the back of this cabinet I used some reproduction catalog pages that was made into wrapping paper...another thrifted find @ .95cents! The wood on the back of this cabinet was still very "grainy" like it needed to be sanded-- so I opted to cover it with old looking paper. The bow of the cabinet makes it perfect for holding a cup & saucer.... these both were sent to me in different internet swaps. If you wish to view more Trash to Treasure you can find more at Kari & Kijsa's blog. Mmm Mmm Monday

Sour Cream Softies
3 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup (8 oz.carton) sour cream
cinnamon and sugar
Mix the flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
Cream together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream--blending well to make a thick batter. Drop by rounded teaspoon about 4" apart on
greased cookie sheet. I use a glass dipped in sugar and cinnamon to smash the cookies into a circle. I also sprinkled even more of the cinnamon & sugar on some of the cookies (thats why some are darker than others)
Bake at 400 degrees for 12 min. or until lightly golden brown around edges. Makes 3 1/2 doz.

Project Friday~

I've made some little fairies sitting in some Robin's eggs....When I was baking recently I tried to crack the chicken eggs not in half like you normally would do... I tried to crack them higher to have more "egg" left to use as little nests for my tiny fairies. I washed them out using hot water and then let them soak in a bowl filled with hot water and a couple of squirts of some kitchen cleaner that has bleach in it. Then I just painted each egg with two coats of blue paint. (Apple Barrel's Regency Blue) I placed each egg onto a paint brush sitting in a cup to let them dry completely. Using an old toothbrush, I splattered some brown paint (Apple Barrel's Dark Chocolate) and some off white paint (Apple Barrel's Antique White) all over the eggs.Aren't they just so darn caute??
Once that was dry, I simply added some shredded paper grass and a tiny fairy to each egg. I have the eggs sitting in little metal nests that originally were to be used for candles. (my dog ate one of the eggshells, nothing is sacred in this house!) You can see more "Project Friday" projects over at the blog Sugarplum Cottage. If you have linked here you can view more of my blog by clicking this link~ I've got a lot of easy-peasy recipes that you could try out...and then you would have loads of eggshells to play around with!!
