The Tooth Fairy...

is coming for a visit! My grandson lost his very first tooth! Goodness, wasn't it just yesterday I peered into a bundle of blankets to see his tiny toothless face... *sigh* This morning my grandson woke up my daughter (his mother) yelling that he had lost his tooth, she thought she would have to search for it... since he was yelling he "lost" it... but it was tightly held in his little hand... Dollar signs for pupils no doudt. Cute.Cute.Cute.
Of course, I had to make him something to put his tooth inside of so that the tooth fairy could easily find it and replace it with some cold hard cash...... One happy kid...
He told me I did a good job... but, "Whats this on the backside Nana?" I told him it was a seam I stitched closed to hold in the "stuffing"... he told me, "Oh, thats ok it looks like that." *lol*I slathered some glitter paint onto a couple of dollar bills to be placed in the "tooth" once his baby tooth is taken out.... I was going to glitter up a five dollar bill... but figured my grandson would have his fingers in his mouth trying to wiggle out even more teeth--- and Nana isn't ready for him to grown up that much yet. *wink*

JJ's Garage....

My five year old grandson wanted a car themed bedroom, so I've been having fun pulling things together to make this happen for him. I was lucky to find a bag of car stickers at a yard sale... I simply pulled off the paper backing on each sticker and adhered them to sheets of magnets and cut them out. He has a metal bed (locker style) that he can stick and restick these sticker/magnets to..... *fun times, fun times*I also hauled over this fabulous antique armoire. I picked up this beaut for only $10.00 at a yard sale. I had it standing straight up in the trunk of my '66 Mustang as I drove down every side street possible to get it home.... miles & miles I tell ya!!!It is an old Pilots locker that came from our local airport years & years ago. I added some more stickers to this wooden armoire using double sided sticky tape.
I was lucky to find a stacked tire toy box to go in his room. I cut a wooden circle and covered it with burlap and plastic to make it a nice side table next to his bed. The two hubcaps were a great find at only $1.50 each. *score* The three galvanized metal boxes were only $5.00, another great area for placing the magnet car stickers...
I am in the beginning stages of making a garage sign for my grandson's bedroom. The plywood circle I had cut was very rough, so I filled in some knot holes and other grooves with some paper clay so I'd have a really smooth surface to paint on. Next, I printed out the image I wanted to use and transferred it to the boards surface using transfer paper. Easy peasy.All I need to do now is paint it. I think his room is off to a good start!

Good Intentions

I came across several necklaces that I had stuffed into different containers to be photographed and listed on my etsy site at a later date. You know how it goes, you've got good intentions, but sometimes it just doesn't happen~I've had several requests to view newer and older pieces, so that motivated me to at least photograph them in big lots to showcase what I've got.I enjoy making jewelry, but... taking photos of finished items and listing them just isn't as fun as one might think!I really like these lucky charms, one can never have to much luck....
I am really needing to read up on taking photos of jewelry!I need an assistant! (all of these pendant/necklaces are $10.00 each)

Button Keep Jar

I took the "Button Keep Challenge" and joined in for some monthly fun of making a jar to hold some buttons. I used small quilted jelly jars as my jar of choice for each months button keep container to build upon. I was wanting a smooth surface to work with on the lid so I covered the silver canning lid that came with the jars with some illustration board. This jar is for white buttons~A metal birds nest, book text, white buttons and a small cherub with some wings and taaaaaaaaaaa daaaaaaaaaaa a jar for keeping buttons. What a fun addition to my studio shelf....The little cherub is so stinking cute! Such a happy little baby....big hugs,

Hair Bow Holder

My grand daughter has a lot of hair bows. Some store bought, some gifted to her...and a lot made by me. A few years ago, I made her a hair bow holder using a gold gilt frame and some black grosgrain ribbon, with that idea in mind, I made some more. I got this huge spool of grosgrain ribbon for one dollar years ago~Now that she has her own bedroom, the little three year old now dictates a more sophisticated look. *wink* The color scheme in her room is black, hot pink, light pink & white. Firstly, I spray painted all the frames black to give everything a cohesive look. This way too, I can add more frames in the future simply by painting them black to match.Next, I measured the frames so that the ribbons would fit evenly spaced on the backside of each frame. Then, I simply hot glued the black grosgrain ribbon in place. Easy~peasy. The bows easily clip to the ribbons on the frames for easy access. These black frames are going to be hung on hot pink walls.... should be caute!

Art Journal

I've been wanting to create an art journal for a very long time but I haven't had much luck finding a book to use as the base for my journal. The reasons why ran the gambit from- to big, to small, to old, to new..... I finally came across a book to use, this little vintage darling of a book with an embossed cover titled, "I Dare You."I had bought a pop up book with cute animal pictures on every page, I just had to pull it apart to use in my journal. This page is called, "Life is a Circus." There are soooooo many layers of paint on these two pages... I glued two pages of the book together to make a nice canvas to work on. I found that painting on just one page of the book made the pages curl. I dug through my huge stash of Dresden trim to spell the word circus. I think it adds a nice little pop to the background. I think I'll be doing more work in my journal when the mood strikes me. It did take me a long time to finish just this one page.... I could have used a heat gun to speed things up, but I like the drying time too... gives me time to start yet another project! *wink*

Happy Birthday...

Today is my daughters birthday....she just closed escrow on her second home....Every single wall in her new home is going to be painted.... I get the easy job of watching her kids while they all work fixing up her new home....Another perk of being a Nana.....
