Paper mache pumpkin

Over at the blog "Expressly Corgi" they are hosting a "Get 'er done Friday" linky party...go check it out!
Well...I've always wanted one of those vintage paper mache pumpkins, but geeze, they want a small fortune for them. Sooooo I made my own, here is one I whipped up rather fast, just to see if it would work. I think it turned out alright.... I even gave it a lid. I used wire for the handle, some vintage black ribbon and of course I just had to glue some leaves and berries to it as well. I've already started making a few more... they are easy-peasy. I would like to find some websites to get cuter faces to select from, this was the first one I saw, and now that I see it painted on my pumpkin-- I don't care for it to much~ Isn't that how it always goes?

  1. Hi Cheryl, thanks for coming by. Your pumpkin is super cute. Have you ever been to Card Cow? It's a site that sells post cards and they have lots of vintage holiday cards you might find inpiration from for different faces. I think it's just www.cardcow.com.
    Happy haunting!

  2. I suggest heading over to ebay and viewing some of the vintage/antique ones to find a "face" that suites you better. I think the one you have here is awfully sweet...errrr...scary. Did you make the mache form yourself? If not then wherever did you find it?

  4. That is pretty cute - and you are a beginner? Not bad for a first one! There are lots of faces to be found on the internet, and I'm sure easy to reproduce!

  5. Hey, thanks for jong in on Get R Done.
    Sorry I'm late to visit.

    Your pumpkin is really cute.
So, did you make if from scratch??

    Going to tell us how??

I did two pumpkins that i think have really cute faces. They are out of wood, but maybe it would work on your next paper mache one.

Thanks for joining in on Get R Done. See you soon..'
