Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggghhhh~

I managed to pick up two large pirate chests recently. I got this one pictured below for $10 bucks at a yard sale. *caute!* I talked the gal down from the $15 she was originally asking...hey, it doesn't hurt to ask-- saved me 5 bucks lolThe second chest I got off of craigslist for free. I heart freeeeeeeee~ It is an old chest as well, but not as old as the previous one. I am going to be making these over (of course) and I'll post them on the 25th of this month with a linky to Jen's monthly makeover party. Eh gawds, thats right around the corner, I had better get busy!

Magic elf....

Here is my magic Christmas elf. We have had him in our family for about 21 years. He comes out at Christmas time and does things like put up the Christmas tree, wrap presents etc. When my daughter was younger, he often times could be found on her bed when she came home from school holding a pre- Christmas gift for her. He spoiled her a lot~ He is sooooooooo silly, sometimes he can be found hanging from one of our ceiling fans.... or way up high on a bookcase.

Treasures!

Since I had my grandson this past weekend, I didn't get to go out & about and visit as many yard sales & thrift stores as I would have liked this past weekend. I did go to a few yard sales with him.... and it was a chore! Anywho, my hubby was home today so he chauffeured me (and my grandson, I had him today for a few hours as well!) to two thrift stores. I come across some major cute stuff, you just have no idea!

I spotted this silver 4 tiered number from a distance and squealed with delight all the while thinking it was going to be big-bucks. Hmmmmm $24.95.... eek. (I am so cheap lol) My husband said, "Ah, your worth it.... lets just say Happy Christmas" I chuckled and said, "Sweetie, this isn't Happy Christmas, this is just plain ol' happy Monday." I had visions of this holding ooodles of crafting stuff, my husband had/has visions of this holding candy LOL. Soooooo I hummed/hawed and looked over at the check out girl...hmmmmm I can surely get a discount from her lol. I took up the rest of my loot, did what I like to call my "razzle-dazzle" (seriously, I've got this down to a science) and got it for $20 bucks lol I could have gotten it cheaper, probably around $15, but hey, the money is for veterans and I don't want to take from them--- to much lol

The wicker two tiered number-- $2 bucks (has a tag on it from an antique store reading "Swedish Srensk B. Soljd" serving tray $25) The gold metal house--$1 buck (soon to be pink & glittery)

I got a lot of flowers & Christmas trees for $2 bucks

A lot of other things as well, all put away and forgotten already lol

Lastly, another photo of something that made me squeal~

A mouse outside my house--
in my bird feeder that I made awhile back. Look at how chubby he/she is! I think its getting fat off of the sunflower seeds! The photo is not that clear because I shot it through the sheer curtain & screen door... its cute, but... you know... eeeeeeeek!!

Here are a couple more things I recently purchased from one of our local boutiques. (thrift store)
A huge bag of antique stamps which includes the alphabet (upper & lower case) shapes, common objects and lots and lots of "words" I think it was a set used by a teacher. (The rubber on the stamps smells like a car tire lol) The huge bag was only $10 buckeroos~
Here is a sweet wall angel. This one surprised me because it is made out of wood :-) It cost me all of .45cents~

Mudda-load~

Oh my goooooooooooodness. Ok, for weeks now I've drooled over others old vintage stuff.... dreaming/longing of my very own. Well... today as I was coming home from a "bummer of a day shopping at the boutiques", I came across a sign that read "AUCTION". I've never been to one. WOW! Within 2 minutes I was hooked, and well on my way to buying out the place. It was swealtering heat, but so much fun. I kept fanning myself with my number and the man kept thinking I was bidding. What a hoot! He finally got to calling me... "That girl who loves Christmas" I bought two lots of Christmas stuff :-P $2.50 each *takes a bow*
I have yet to go through everything, I am still shaking from giddiness so I thought I would come blog about it all while I was still on this high lol. I'll blog more later with photos :-P

Here is my loot:
Two lots of Christmas items (boxes & boxes)
A box of vintage hankies & mirror
A slew of vintage cards, Christmas/greetings etc.
Old stamps, cards envelopes, papers
Old records with their covers and bindings intact
Linens, doilies, some vintage fabric
An old diploma
That is just the stuff I saw, who knows what else I'll find. Hmmmm hopefully nothing is going to jump out at me lol

Show & Tell Friday~

Here is a photo of my antique doll I received for my 16th birthday. (I'm 42 now) My parents were on vacation visiting family in Edinburgh, Scotland on my birthday...so I told them "I want an old doll for my birthday" and this is what they brought me back.
She is a little sweetie. (You know, I've never named her... any suggestions?) She is wearing a handmade dress that is to big for her... I often wonder if that dress was a hand-me-down from another doll. Her hair is human hair, it still has its natural curl to it. (I've never brushed it, so it looks very messy.) I've read they often used the hair of the child that was receiving this kinda doll. I would like to think that as well, I think thats neat. Her body is fully jointed and in excellent condition. I recently found some old reproduction patterns for some clothing that would be appropriate for her. I was thinking one of these days I'd whip her up some new duds. Maybe even a whole wardrobe full of clothing and shoes etc.... hmmm another project! lol
